Doreen Frost ~ Designer, Teacher & Merry Maker of Original Needle~Work Creations, Folky Fraktur Woole~Worked Animals & Needle Work Patterns.

I have always dreamed of owning my own business, working with my hands, creating what made my heart sing . Fifteen years ago that dream began to take shape. My business grew slowly at first and I have dabbled in many different art forms (which I still do from time to time :). Six years ago I decided to concentrate on my love of Punch Needle Embroidery. I did loads of research, purchased the tools & supplies, that I knew I would enjoy using, and taught myself everything I could (and felt I needed to know) about this wonderful needle art. In 2011, I began offering my original Punch Needle Embroidery designs and things just took off from there!! Over the years my business has grown tremendously. I now travel throughout New England teaching classes & giving workshops. I also hold small classes here, in our Vermont home in Autumn & Early Winter. Outside, the wind howls, crisp leaves fly past the windows & snow swirls about... inside, a cozy fire burns and a homemade meal is prepared..we settle ourselves with our hoop & needles and enjoy a day of learning, goode conversation, friends and food. Each day I give thanks for this wonderful life I live. ~ doreen

~When Black Cats Go Riding~

Good blustery March afternoon to you.  I wanted to pop in and share with you a little someone I have in the works.  I am loving her thus far.  I used a little different method with my punching this time...two strands of size 8 Valdani Pearl Cotton and my needle's width set on #3 for Ms. Black's (tentative name) fur and on #2 for her eyes (which I plan to finish with black glass pupils).  I am off now to dye her lovely antique Swiss dot fabric and create her body.  I have two other such Folky dolls in the works.  Things are finally coming together for my first web show of 2016..gosh I am so behind this year!

Wishing you a lovely day ~ doreen

~Introduction To Punch Needle Embroidery...FOUR new videos for you~

Goode Monday afternoon to you.  I am pleased to tell you (tho I can hardly believe I am doing this) that I now have four new Punch Needle Embroidery Tutorial video's on YouTube.  I originally planned for them to have all taken place in one day and on one continuous video however, rarely does anything go as planned!!!

Let me just say...If someone had told me a few years ago that I would, one day, be posting a video of myself on YouTube... I truly would have called them crazy!!  Anyone who knows me will tell you, I am NOT an in front of the camera kind of person..  I guess one grows as one ages..or should I say loosens up and becomes less self conscious!

At any rate....I hope you find them informative & fun!!  You will find the link, to my YouTube playlist, in the bar above.

Feel free to contact me should you have any questions and please leave a comment here or on YouTube with your feedback.  I would love to hear from you.

Wishing you a great day, doreen

Pulling Wool Through Linen ~ Hooking In The Wee Hours

Goode MARCH To You!  We wake, on this cold Tuesday morning, to Winter storm advisory's and ominous scarlet skies.  I LOVE IT.

I thought I would share, with you this morning, one of my other passions....Rug Hooking.   I am quite new to the art of pulling Wool through Linen but goodness, how I enjoy it.  There is something so very, very relaxing about it and I do believe I am getting the hang of it and can finally see that my end result might be quite pleasing.  The design I am working on right now is my own ~ Spring Thyme In Olde New England~ The first, Fraktur Turkey punch needle embroidery pattern, that I ever created and still one of my very favorites and I am thrilled to be bringing it to life with wool.

I am off now to tidy the house, stoke the fire and feed & walk the boys then, I believe, I will make a batch of gingerbread cookies before tackling orders.

Wishing you joy ~ Doreen
