Doreen Frost ~ Designer, Teacher & Merry Maker of Original Needle~Work Creations, Folky Fraktur Woole~Worked Animals & Needle Work Patterns.

I have always dreamed of owning my own business, working with my hands, creating what made my heart sing . Fifteen years ago that dream began to take shape. My business grew slowly at first and I have dabbled in many different art forms (which I still do from time to time :). Six years ago I decided to concentrate on my love of Punch Needle Embroidery. I did loads of research, purchased the tools & supplies, that I knew I would enjoy using, and taught myself everything I could (and felt I needed to know) about this wonderful needle art. In 2011, I began offering my original Punch Needle Embroidery designs and things just took off from there!! Over the years my business has grown tremendously. I now travel throughout New England teaching classes & giving workshops. I also hold small classes here, in our Vermont home in Autumn & Early Winter. Outside, the wind howls, crisp leaves fly past the windows & snow swirls about... inside, a cozy fire burns and a homemade meal is prepared..we settle ourselves with our hoop & needles and enjoy a day of learning, goode conversation, friends and food. Each day I give thanks for this wonderful life I live. ~ doreen

Goode Day Deare Friends.  I hope you are well this lovely morning.  Tis a dark, cloudy and cold one here in Vermont as a storm prepares to deliver us some snow and then a bit of rain.  Silly as it sounds, especially coming from me, a KNOWN snow lover but I am looking ever so forward to the snow.  Yesterday, as I bundled up to run errands I found myself anxiously awaiting warm weather and it's lack of layers as I am MOST ready to ditch the coats, scarves, gloves and such!!

IN THE STUDIO....packing, shipping & pouring beeswax is on the agenda today!!!

IN THE KITCHEN...Marinated & Grilled Strip Steak, Baked Potatoes and Tossed Green Salad is on the menu tonight :).

Until tomorrow ~ wishing you a joy filled day.  Doreen

~THURSDAY, MARCH 23RD~

Goode Day Dear Friends. Tis a sunny and cold New England morning as the birds scurry about with a song in their hearts and feathers fluffed. We've a strange landscape at the moment due to our bizarre (even for March) weather. 70* days have caused our tree's to be on the verge of budding while an icy, and thick, blanket of snow abounds. At any rate, the sap is still running, and we are still boiling and making VT Syrup!! ♥♥.

IN THE STUDIO....A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all of you that popped by to see the new graphics and to shop in my Etsy Shoppe. I am SO very grateful to all of you for allowing me to make this transition to a bit more simplicity in my life.

A busy day is ahead (As always) as I pack and ship orders. A run to the post office late in the afternoon and then it's back home and a bit of time with my hoop & needle. I've new designs itching to come to life.

DINNER THIS EVENING.... Chicken Fajitas (oh my gosh...I LOVE them so) Rice, Fresh Green Salad and a glass of nice red wine. :) Perfect on this chilly New England Evening.

Until tomorrow ~ Wishing you joy, doreen

~New Look ~ New Offerings~

Goode Day Deare Friends. I hope this note finds you well. These last couple of days have been busy awhile I worked on combining my Website and Etsy Shoppes. Amy, my webmaster (who I truly could not live without) has worked her magic once again with new graphics and setting everything set up so all the www's and .com's go to their proper places :). SO..hopefully today, when you visited www.vermontharvestfolkart.com, or From A Little Brown House, it brought you here and you are able to view my new graphics!!

SO...HERE ARE THE BASICS....The layout is just a little different but the links in the column to left will work as they did previously, on my Website, BUT will now take you to individual areas in my Etsy shop rather than individual pages on my website. :) I am making this change to simplify things for me. Having two shops is VERY hard to keep up with and my Etsy shop is SO much easier to maintain, list offerings and keep track of my income for tax purposes.

I truly hope this change works well for all of you as well. If you are not registered with Etsy, please do not stress, it's very simple, you just click on "sign up" and fill in your name, etc. There are no fee's (for you) and purchasing is very simple.  IF, by chance, you find something difficult, give me a shout and I can send you an invoice. :).

Today, In The Shoppe, I have listed several new finished offerings, beeswax offerings AND two new PN Patterns. :)

I hope you'll take a moment to stop by. Until next time, wishing you a lovely day ~ Doreen

Hello Spring ~ New Offerings & Patterns TOMORROW.

GOODE Monday Morning Deare Friends And Happy Spring!!  The sun is shining brilliantly, here in Vermont and tho it is quite chilly here still and the fire still burns in the woodstove, warm weather is just around the corner.

I am popping in this morning, before Oliver & I head out for our morning walk while Banana bread bakes, to let you know that tomorrow, March 21st, I will have several new offerings available; two new patterns as well as finished pieces.

YOU WILL ALSO....find new graphics here tomorrow along with a few other changes but I will speak more about those tomorrow, when they take affect.

Until then, I bid you goode bye and wish you a merry day.  Doreen

Busy, Busy, Busy... Goode Things To Come

Glad Tidings.  We wake to a mere 4* here in Vermont with the biggest storm of the year looming down upon us.  It is set to begin tomorrow morning and last throughout Wednesday....I, OF COURSE, do not mind but goodenness, how wonderful this would have been if it had happened in December!!!  :) I am headed out, in a couple of hours to do some food (and wine) shopping before the storm hits. I've been trying to get to the grocery store for two days now but it has been so bitterly cold that I just couldn't make myself leave the house! BUT, we are in need of quite a few things and with a big storm on the way, I guess I better get myself there!

As you can see, my "Olde New England Pumpkin" is coming along nicely.  I am SO pleased with it.   I took this photo early Saturday morning, and have worked on it since then SO...it is actually almost finished.  I just need to add my "finishing touches" and it will be ready, along with a few other pieces Friday/Saturday (most likely Saturday).

I will also have another Goode Thing to share later in the week....Here's a sneak peek :)

IN OTHER NEWS...Our poor boy sustained an injury yesterday while helping his dad. :(
this photo was taken a couple years ago. ♥♥
He cut his paw pad on the crazy ice and snow we have here right now....poor guy...it bled like crazy (all over the living room rug....) and he's limping.  The cut is actually quite small but Dr. Dru said paws are impossible..they bleed terribly and there's nothing they can really do for them... we will just keep it clean, keep him mellow and apply my handmade paw balm..which he loves.  Poor guy though, I hate to see him in pain!!

Okay..time is getting away from me..it's 7:15 and I'm usually tidying the house by now...

Until next time ~ wishing you a joyful start to your week, doreen

~ W I N D Y Wednesday~

A Home For Mr. & Mrs. Proctor...almost finished

GOODE Windy Wednesday morning to you.  The windy is howling and whirling about as rain falls heavily and the temperatures rise, taking the last of our snow and finally making it look like Spring is about to arrive :).  Chili is simmering in the crock pot already this morning; to be taken to The Sugarhouse tonight for the guys to enjoy as t their dinner.  Boiling as been sporadic these last few days but it is now, running once again!!

Do you ever finish a piece and love it, only to look back at it a few days later and realize you not completely happy with it!!    Such is the case with this piece....I really wish I had not added in the orange!  I feel like the sweet peacocks would have looked better if I had done them in the same colors (yellow and green) as the flowers and leaves!!!  I am hoping, once I put it in it's frame, which is a lovely olde & aged white, all will come together!!  Right now I am adding a bit more boarder as the frame I purchased is larger and I really want to use it for this piece.

Okay..I am off now to tidy the house, walk Oliver James and head into the studio for the day.

Until Next time ~ wishing you joy, doreen

~Thoughts, Things & Happenings~

Goode Day everyone.  I hope this post finds you well.  I am enjoyiong the warmth of the fire as I work on this sunny & cold March day in Vermont.  The sap is running slowly..more trickle than drip really but the sun is strong and things should be "running" smoothly soon.  Our weather has been so sporadic lately, it's hard to predict what might be in store.

SPEAKING OF WHAT MIGHT BE IN STORE..  After doing this year's taxes and realizing, once again, that my Etsy shop is out selling my website; I believe I have finally made the decision to close my website and sell exclusively through my Etsy Shop.  Many of you, my wonderful customers,  have told me, you enjoy my website for the homey look and feel that it offers..especially when you compare it to the look of the Etsy shops as they tend to be rather generic and simple.  Have no fear however, as I've added the same background and such here on my blog and I will be, once again, posting daily on my blog and will be doing & giving it all the little personal touches that you found cozy and homey on my website.  I will also be kicking up my activity with my newsletter ..keeping you "in the know", sharing what I am working on as well as recipes and new offering updates.  I will still hold web shows..but they will now be offered through My Etsy Shop.  I think I can make it work.....fingers crossed for me... :~)

I'm off now to brew a fresh pot of coffee and finish off the rest of this tax time paperwork..I can't handle it hanging over my head any longer

Wishing you a merry day ~ doreen
