#62 ~Blackened Beeswax Hornbook Ornaments~
~Blackened Beeswax Hornbook Ornaments~
In early childhood education, a hornbook was a school "primer" for children. Each hornbook lesson consisted of different combination's of the alphabet, vowel and consonant combination's, the Lord's Prayer, a form of a cross, and a praise of the Trinity. These were hand written on a piece of parchment, then tacked to the wooden paddle.
Up for your consideration today are these lovely blackened beeswax Hornbook Ornaments. Each is created using a reproduction mold of an 18th century hornbook. Made from creamy blackened beeswax, fragrantly scented and hand rubbed with spices. Each hornbook measures 4" x 2". Each is finished with a burlap hanger. These make wonderful Christmas tree ornaments but could also be hung on a cupboard door or wooden peg rack.
